Holidays... 10/25/2009

I'm on a well deserved holiday till the end of November (maybe even December: Spain, Egypt, Croatia). So don't expect any updates till next year, and my answers will be less often (even if anybody buys a plugin may have to wait a bit longer).

Thesis... 09/10/2009

At last I finished the manuscript of my thesis! Time for a small celebration!
Now the presentation has to be finished, and if everything goes OK, in November I'll have a nice PhD. diploma. And free time to write some plugins :) And to test finally Bibble5.
But till then I think I'll visit the nine circles of the bureaucracy hell (viva Kafka-tours!)

If everything goes well, I'll have a small surprise in the next weeks (yep, a new plugin, but I don't know when shall I find some time to write it).

[edited on oct.2] PS. No big surprise, still a lot of work...maybe later. Sorry, guys. At least my PhD. goes quite ok.

Ladies and Gentlemen!

The world's first Bibble plugin contest is announced, where you can win fame and fortune (well, a sort of...)

As you probably observed, Bibble 5 is getting closer and closer (and closer...) to the final release, and it got a nice plugin page – showing it's already getting really usable.

I thought you probably made better images using my plugins than me, so I decided to organize this little fun contest in search for example images. If you like the results of my plugins, send me your favourite image you made using them!

The winning images will be featured on the Bibble 5 plugin page and on my website (of course with credits and link to your webpage). The winners will also receive a free plugin!

Rules:
  • There are five categories: Harry, Sally, SallyPro, Lay and iNDA.
  • The images should have 640 pixels on the long side
  • You should send a Before/After using the plugin images (eventually an alternate result).
  • Describe shortly what plugin did you use and what settings.
The contest deadline is September 10, 2009

SallyPro bugfix 08/19/2009

Yep, I know it had quite a few bugs, sorry about them. It is really a complex plugin with hundreds of controls...difficult to check each one of them.
But thanks to your feedback the bugs were localized and I hope I eliminated most of them - I hope. If you are still having trouble, write me (leave a feedback or go to the Bibble forum)!

Important! One of the bugs was that the Highlights and Shadows controls were switched. The new version corrects this problem, but that means that the highlight/shadows settings you made with the old version will be messed up now. If you have a work in progress, better wait to finish it, and switch to the new version after that.

Go check out the fresh version on the Download page!

I just updated the trial versions for Bibble5 PV 2.2
If you like them, please buy them! It costs just the right amount of money (you decide!) and you'll help me to write even more cool plugins!
BTW, the registered versions have a more intuitive interface for an easier utilization.

When I first tried Bibble, the selective color adjustments were the feature I missed the most from this RAW developer; Otherwise I really liked it - especially the curves editor - and that it had a Linux version. So I decided to create Harry and Sally.
In the last months I must admit I didn't have - let's say inspiration, so I left my camera to rest, and concentrated on coding.
Finally I decided to try in practice what offers Bibble5: It was a really pleasant surprise. I can feel it's unfinished, unpolished, but I really like how it works. Anyway, I know this - when it's a lot of work, it's barely perceptible for the users, and the last day's work will make a lot of difference. I hope it will come here soon.
And finally I had the chance to try my own plugins. I must admit, I find Sally indispensable for the color work, and Harry for the B/W conversions. The colorful sliders make them even more intuitive to use. SallyPro doesn't really fit my style - maybe because -as an amateur photographer - I don't need such precise control. I don't use Lay very often - but it can really save some photos. iNDA? Sincerely, it's quite basic, and the classic film-names don't say much to me. I understand people are waiting for Andy. I'm happy with Harry till then.

What about you? What are your experiences with my plugins and with Bibble5?

At last I finished it!
The complicated interface stroke back once more, I had a lot of trouble hunting the bugs.
Because of the current limitations of Bibble 5 the buttons aren't working, but I hope the Preview feature isn't that crucial.
(sincerely, there is a workaround I used in Lay, but it's too complicated to be implemented for some 80 buttons)
Anyway, I hope you'll like it!

It seems I've been a bit lazy lately, but the fact is I don't have much time for the Bibble plugins. I have a lot of work.
But here is a small update for Lay, it's in fact the final version, with tutorial.

A few days ago I had a nasty accident: I've been hit by a car (on the sidewalk!) Fucker!
Anyway, I'm relatively okay by now, except of a broken tooth and a few stiches; fortunately I survived and I didn't broke anything. And I begin to recover my human face :)
The thing is I don't think I'll be able to code in the next days, so no new plugins or updates in the near future.
Anyway, as usual, I'll keep you updated about news here and in the Bibble forums.

My next plugin is a black and white film simulator for Bibble 5 similar to Sean M. Puckett's Andy.
I hope it will satisfy (at least partly) the needs of those, who asked since a long time for Andy. It's however simpler, because it simulates the "classical" photography process untill the film is developed - so without the printing process.

You can find it's presentation on my homepage, and you can get it in the Download section.
